Making people feel connected is core to what motivates much of Rich Loen's work. The Road Sign project is an ongoing artifact of creative expression meant to connect with people through inside-jokes, pop culture, and esoteric facts. It is a nod at a stranger that invites them into the artistic expression, creating moments of affect, where they may "feel seen".
